Tips To Boost Your Poker Bankroll – What advice does a poker pro have for increasing your bankroll? Dara O’Kearney joins the GO blog to share his suggestions for increasing your bankroll – here are 5 poker bankroll management recommendations.

Dara O’Kearney is a professional poker player and poker coach who is recognized for his large online victories and poker instruction. O’Kearney has the distinction of being Ireland’s highest online winner as well as the most cashed live player. He also hosts the Chip Race, a prominent poker podcast, and their corresponding Chip Race channel, where you can find hand evaluations and sweat sessions, and writes a regular free newsletter with suggestions on how to improve your poker game.

Every day, amateur poker players ask me for tips on how to boost their bankroll, but I can’t really respond as well as I’d like because it would need me to become their personal coach.

Tips To Boost Your Poker Bankroll

  1. How Can You Improve Your Win Rate?

What you need to enhance your win rate will be radically different from what you need to improve your win rate. I’d probably recommend investing in a solver like PIOSolver if I had any general advice for all players. It’s the most reliable and efficient technique to enhance your poker game. However, I recognize that most gamers face a significant barrier to entry.

A solver is likely to be pricey if you are a low-stakes player, dull if you are an amateur player, and there is a steep learning curve for many players.

Instead, I can recommend what modest stakes MTT players should do to build their bankroll quickly and significantly. Warning: I’m afraid it entails putting in some effort.

  1. What Should Players on Smaller Sites Do?

Understandably, a $5 MTT grinder would prefer to play on a large site with 1,000+ runner fields. If you win one of these, you’ll have a bankroll for bigger games right away.

But, for a variety of reasons, I would advise against it. Smaller poker rooms with MTT fields of 50-300 players are, in my opinion, a far better way to build your bankroll. They tend to be softer because they don’t attract hard grinders who are drawn to large prize pools.

Because the software is not as advanced on lesser sites, it is more difficult for grinders to multi-table, which is irritating — but also makes the games softer.

When you play 100 runner fields instead of 1,000 runner fields, the downswings are far less severe. In large field MTTs, it can take months to get a meaningful result. You can expect to make the final table 1 percent of the time if there are 1,000 runners on average.

You may expect to make the final table 10% of the time if there are 100 runners on average. Most significantly, this means you’ll have more opportunities to practice each step of an MTT. You’ll receive a lot more bubble experience, final table experience, and heads-up experience this way.

This is preferable to waiting a long time and then making the final table of a 1,000-runner event, where you might make a mistake due to inexperience.

  1. Wise Up & Study Common Spots

When it comes to studying poker, most players make the wrong choices, whether they’re playing at the table, online, or on their phones. They either try to master every level, such as the 100BB deep stages, intermediate stages, bubble, final table, and heads-up — or they choose the biggest hands they played that won or cost them the most money, such as Aces vs Kings, horrible beats, and so on.

It’s more efficient to focus on the most common areas that crop up again and time again. 30 large blind stacks, single raised pot, Button vs. Big Blind. Button vs. Small Blind, 3-bet pots, perhaps. limped pot, Big Blind vs. Small Blind, and so on.

These are usually small pots, so you may think studying them is a waste of time, but they will be the ones you play the most. They probably make up half of the places you end up. It’s logical to try to master them because they’ll have a considerably greater impact on your bottom line.

Master your ranges from each position, including which hands to shove, the minimum bet or fold, and which boards are favorable to your range. Muscle memory kicks in when you study them so much that you don’t have to think about them at the tables. This will free up mental energy for the more difficult situations you may encounter.

Move on to a new spot once you’ve mastered a common one. If you want to drill down on study places like these, I recommend the DTO app. We’ll be having some study sessions utilizing the app soon if you subscribe to our Chip Race YouTube channel.

  1.  Follow Poker Rooms & Sites on Social Media

This is an out-of-the-box suggestion, but it’s ideal for low-stakes players. Instead of performing other forms of marketing, online poker rooms have been doing MTT ticket giveaways on their Twitter and Facebook accounts in recent years.

Usually, all you have to do is retweet the giveaway post or answer a simple question. This is one of those things that takes 30 seconds to complete, involves no financial risk, and could result in a seat in an MTT that you are not financially prepared to go.

If you don’t want to fill your friends’ timelines with poker spam, you can do it with a ‘burner’ social media account. It’s also worth following the sites’ sponsored professionals, who frequently give away tickets. This is something we do on the Chip Race Twitter account, where we give away free €10, €50, and €100 tickets regularly.

  1. Find Free Study Resources

The bad news is that high-end coaching and solution technology are prohibitively expensive. The good news is that there is now free poker strategy material available that is far superior to the most expensive stuff available just four or five years ago.

Sharing hands with stronger players in poker forums and Discord channels is a terrific method to learn the game. Be advised, if you played a bad hand, this can be a rocky experience because manners are in limited supply, but if you learn well by being coached, this is a terrific method to do it.

Make sure the people you seek advice from our success at the games and poker types you want to learn. Twitch and YouTube, particularly Twitch, are fantastic resources.

Professional poker players expose their cards and Keluaran SGP strategies at the tables in real-time. It still amazes me that talented players like Kevin Martin give away so much personal information for free, but we are living in the influencer era of poker, so take advantage while the going is good.
