These days there are several rumors about Windows 7 RC.Will it come out on April 24th or May 5th?Will the build number be 7082 or 7100?Confusing,are't they?Here are some exclusive points that has been confirmed.
First of all,with Betta Fish being the mascot of Windows 7 Beta,Windows 7 RC might get another one named Humming Bird.Many of you must have seen it because it was the logon screen of Windows 7 Build 7057.
Secondly,these days there have been too many leaked versions of Windows 7.Confused?In fact,since build 7076,the development of Windows 7 has been divided into two branches - Winmain_win7rc towards RC and Pre-RTM winmain towards RTM.
Among these versions,7077 was compiled as a RC ESCROW build(winmain_win7rc branch).And later the winmain lab raised its build number to 7105 as a Pre-RTM winmain branch.At the same time,all the codes of 7077 and all these version lower than 7100 was frozen.That's to say,there will be no new features in these versions.All they will do is to fix bugs to bring us a RC version with high quality.
If you want any new features,keep your eyes on Pre-RTM winmain(higher than 7105).These versions such as 7105,7106....are newer than RC.
So,now we know all the 7077，7078，7079，7080，7082……are just RC branches.The final RC version will be 7082 or 7100 or something else but definitely the build number will be lower than 7105.
